‘Convert MOV to MKV Tutorial

MOV

MOV is the default video format for videos taken using iPhones, MacBooks, and other Apple devices. You can upload MOV files to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.

MOV uses an MPEG4 container file format that stores multiple tracks including audio and video tracks, and text. MOV is most commonly used for saving movies and other video files. It is designed primarily for QuickTime Player which is the native media player on Apple Devices. It is sometimes also referred to as 'iMovie video'.

MKV

MKV contains video, audio, and text files. You can upload MKV files to Facebook and YouTube, but not to mobile-based social media platforms like Instagram. It is compatible with VLC media player.

The Matroska Video or MKV supports an unlimited number of video, audio, and subtitle tracks. It is free to use and is best for independent creators. MKV files are not compatible with Mac and must be converted before they can be played on Apple's QuickTime Player.

FAQ

    1. Select your MOV video and upload it to VEED
    2. Choose FLV or your desired format from the dropdown and click Convert
    3. Export the video
  • Easily! Open VEED’s video converter on Safari or your preferred browser, upload your MKV file and choose MKV as your destination format. Press ‘Export’ and you’re done!

  • It depends. MOV is an Apple proprietary format best suited for Apple devices, especially iPhones and iPads. MKV, on the other hand, lacks compatibility on mobile devices. Nonetheless, MKV still has its advantages. It is great for streaming on television as its file size is usually larger than MOV, and it is known to encode videos in high quality.

  • Unfortunately, MKV files cannot be played on Mac’s native media player, QuickTime Media player. Convert it to a more compatible format like MP4 to play on QuickTime, or download a program like VLC media player that accepts files in the MKV format.

I found VEED at the right time: if you're making UGC ads and not using Eye Contact Correction and Noise Reduction on VEED you're missing out on ROI.
