Most wallpapers take two or three passes. Generate a direction, then ask for the same scene at a different time of day, in a colder palette, or with the subject pushed further back so your icons have room. Ask for a 9:16 vertical image in the prompt, at the highest resolution available, then let the phone scale it down. A 2160 × 3840 file covers almost every modern handset, and current flagship displays sit below that, closer to 1290 × 2796. Generating tall and downsizing keeps edges clean. Stretching a small or horizontal image to fill a phone screen is what makes wallpapers look soft.
A 4K wallpaper is roughly 3840 × 2160 pixels, about four times the pixel count of 1080p HD. The extra resolution keeps fine detail and edges sharp on large monitors and TVs, where lower-resolution files start to blur. If you need more pixels than a model returns, add resolution to the file afterward rather than saving something smaller and enlarging it later.
Contrast and negative space. Icons, widgets, and clock text sit on top of the image, so a wallpaper with a busy center tends to swallow them. Ask the prompt for a quiet area in the upper third, or a soft gradient behind the subject. Darker palettes also help light text stay readable and use less battery on OLED phones.
